Anders Ingvar Kjell Kjellson (born May 20, 1923 – died December 18, 2014) was a well-known Swedish actor. He performed in many plays and movies. Ingvar Kjellson was born in Kärna, a place in Östergötland County, Sweden.
He began his acting journey in 1946 when he was accepted into Dramatens elevskola, a famous acting school. After his training, he worked at different theaters. From 1964, he became a permanent actor at the Royal Dramatic Theatre. This is one of Sweden's most important theaters.
Ingvar Kjellson's Acting Career
Ingvar Kjellson played many important roles on stage. He appeared in famous plays like Hedda Gabler, The Wild Duck, and Twelfth Night. These plays are classics in theater history. In 2013, he played the old servant Firs in The Cherry Orchard. This was at the Stockholm City Theatre. He was still acting at 90 years old!
Film Roles and Recognition
Besides his theater work, Ingvar Kjellson also acted in several films. Some of his movies include Zorn, Raskenstam, and Jazzgossen. His talent was recognized when he won the Eugene O'Neill Award in 1978. This award is given to actors who have made great contributions to Swedish theater.
Ingvar Kjellson was married to actress Meta Velander. They were together until his death. He passed away on December 18, 2014, at the age of 91, due to pneumonia. He left behind a wonderful legacy of performances.
