The International Leaders Programme (ILP) is a special program that helps young leaders from around the world grow and connect. It's like a training camp for future global leaders! The government of the United Kingdom runs this program through its Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. This office handles the UK's relationships with other countries. Just remember, there might be other programs with similar names, but this one is unique.

What is the ILP?

The International Leaders Programme started in March 2013. A person named William Hague, who used to be the UK's top diplomat (called the Foreign Secretary), created it.

How the ILP Works

The program looks for young people who could become important leaders in their countries. It brings them to the United Kingdom. While there, these future leaders attend important meetings. They also get special briefings and visit different places to learn about diplomacy. Diplomacy is how countries talk to each other to solve problems.

Why the ILP is Important

The main goal of the ILP is to build strong, lasting friendships between the UK and other countries. It helps connect today's leaders with the decision-makers of tomorrow. This way, they can work together on global issues in the future.

Who Participates in the ILP?

So far, people from 100 different countries have joined the ILP. The program has over 350 members who have completed it. These members are called "alumni."
