International Maritime Hall of Fame facts for kids
The International Maritime Hall of Fame is like a special museum that celebrates people who have done amazing things in the world of ships and the ocean. It honors those who have made big contributions to shipping, sailing, and everything related to the sea. The Hall of Fame started honoring people around 1994. It is supported by the Maritime Association of the Port of New York and New Jersey, which is a group that helps manage the busy ports in New York and New Jersey.

Honoring Maritime Heroes
The International Maritime Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have significantly shaped the maritime industry. These are people who have invented new technologies, led major shipping companies, or found new ways to make sea travel and trade better.
Early Honorees
Many important people were honored in the early years of the Hall of Fame, from 1994 to 2013. One famous person inducted was Malcom McLean. He was the inventor of the international standard shipping container. These containers changed how goods are transported around the world, making it much easier and faster to move products by sea.
