What is Interwine China?
Interwine China is a special exhibition focused on drinks like wine and other spirits. It's a place where companies from all over the world can show their products. They also display things related to making and selling these drinks. The main goal is to help businesses connect with each other. It's a "business-to-business" event, meaning companies talk to other companies, not directly to regular shoppers.
How it Started
This important exhibition began in 2005. It started because the taxes on imported wine in China went down a lot. Before, the tax was 40%, but it dropped to 14%. This made it easier and cheaper to bring wine into China. So, there was a big need for a place where international companies could show their wines and spirits.
What Happens at Interwine?
Interwine China is the largest international wine exhibition in China. It's the only fair of its kind allowed to be held at the Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center in Pazhou. The event brings together many different people from the wine and spirits world. This includes companies that import, distribute, sell, and retail these products. Big buyers like hotels, airlines, and restaurants also come to find new products.
Connecting Businesses
Interwine has the biggest network of Chinese wine importers. More than 60% of imported wine in China goes to the Guangdong area. This region is very active for wine businesses, with many importers and distributors. Interwine helps these businesses meet and work together.
Learning and Exploring
During the exhibition, Interwine also organizes special events. These include professional wine tasting sessions and forums. Experts in wine are often invited to lead these tasting events. Interwine also helps businesses find partners and promotes products. They even hold "Roadshows" in many different Chinese cities. Since 2018, they have visited 46 cities!
Visiting Wineries Abroad
Since 2008, Interwine has also helped Chinese importers visit wineries in other countries. This allows them to see where the wine is made and meet the producers. Countries like France, Spain, Italy, South Africa, Chile, Argentina, Israel, Romania, and Moldova have been visited by these importers thanks to Interwine.
Past Events
The Interwine China Spring Session in 2013 showed more than 50,000 different wines. The Interwine China Autumn Session in 2017 happened from November 12 to 14. It was held at the China Import and Export Fair Pazhou Complex in Guangzhou, China.
