Irene was one of eight children. Her parents were Ingeborg Luplau Møller and Niels Kristian Skovgaard, who was a painter. Her grandfather was Peter Christian Skovgaard, a very famous Danish landscape painter. This means Irene grew up in a home full of art and creativity!

Becoming a Musician and Teacher

Irene loved music from a young age. She studied piano and singing at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. She finished her studies in 1930, ready to share her musical talents with the world.

In 1939, Irene Skovgaard and another musician named Werner Wolf Glaser decided to open their own music school. It was located in Lyngby, Denmark. This school helped many young people learn about music. Irene also worked with Werner Wolf Glaser and her brother, Hjalte Skovgaard, on several music books and songs.
