María Isabel Franco Sánchez (born in 1970) is a Spanish journalist and politician. A journalist is someone who gathers and reports news. A politician is someone who works in government. She was a member of the political party called Citizens (Cs).
Isabel Franco was a candidate for the President of the Region of Murcia in the 2019 elections. After the elections, she became the Vice President of the Region of Murcia. She also served as the Regional Minister for important areas like Women, Equality, LGTBI, Families, and Social Policy starting in August 2019.
Political Career
Joining the Government
Isabel Franco began her role as Vice President and Regional Minister in August 2019. This meant she was a key part of the government in the Region of Murcia. She worked on policies related to families, equality, and social support for people.
Changes in Political Parties
In March 2021, Isabel Franco made a big political decision. She, along with two other members from her party, Citizens, decided to join the regional government led by the PP party. This meant they would vote against a "motion of censure" that their original party, Citizens, had put forward. A motion of censure is a way for a political group to try and remove the current government.
Because of this decision, Isabel Franco was no longer a member of the Citizens party. She continued her work in the regional government, focusing on her duties as Vice President and Minister.
