Isabella of Sabran facts for kids
Isabel of Sabran (born in 1297 – died on May 7, 1315) was a princess connected to the Kingdom of Majorca. She lived a short but important life in the history of royal families.
Isabel was the daughter of Isnard of Sabran, who was a lord from a place called Ansouis, and Margaret of Villehardouin. Her mother, Margaret, came from a very old and important family.
A Royal Marriage
In 1314, Isabel of Sabran married Ferdinand of Majorca. He was a prince and a very important person in the royal family of Majorca. Royal marriages like theirs were often arranged to create strong connections between powerful families and kingdoms.
Birth of a Future King
Isabel became a mother in 1315 when she gave birth to a son. This son would later become James III of Majorca, a future king! Sadly, Isabel of Sabran died just a few months after her son was born. She was only 18 years old.
