Ishtar Yasin Gutierrez was born in Moscow, Russia, in 1968. Today, she lives in Costa Rica. Her father, Mohsen Sadoon Yasin, was a famous theater director from Iraq. Her mother, Elena Gutierrez, was a ballet dancer and choreographer from Chile. Elena's father, Joaquin Gutierrez, was also a well-known writer.
Ishtar's family moved back to Chile. However, they had to leave in 1973 because of difficult political times.
Education and Career
In 1985, when Ishtar was seventeen, she went to Moscow, Russia, just like her father. She studied at the Institute of Art. There, she learned a lot about theater and film. She earned a special degree called a master's degree in Theater and Film Interpretation. This means she became an expert in acting and understanding movies.
Ishtar also wrote a play called Night Cadabra. It was very popular and received great reviews in places like Buenos Aires, Chile, and Costa Rica. She has also written many stories that are well-liked in Costa Rican writing groups.
