Isidoro Acevedo (born Isidoro Rodríguez González; January 2, 1867 – 1952) was an important Spanish politician, trade union leader, and writer. He helped start the Communist Party of Spain. He was born in Luanco, Spain, and later passed away in Moscow, Soviet Union.

Early Life and Work

Isidoro Acevedo started working at a young age. When he was thirteen, he became a helper in a printing shop in Madrid. His family had moved to Madrid three years before this.

In 1898, he moved to a city called Santander. There, he became the leader of a group of socialists. Socialists are people who believe that society should be fair for everyone. He was very active in this group.

Later, people from Bilbao asked him to be the editor of a newspaper. The newspaper was called La Lucha de Clases, which means The Class Struggle. He was put in jail a few times because of the articles he wrote in the newspaper.

Helping Start a New Party

In 1914, Isidoro Acevedo went back to Asturias. There, he worked on another newspaper called La Aurora Social. He was arrested in 1917 because he took part in a big workers' strike that year.

In 1921, he went to a meeting in Madrid. He was representing the socialist group from Asturias. At this meeting, he and other people who supported the Third International helped create the Communist Party of Spain. The Communist Party was a new political group.

Travels and Books

After helping to start the Communist Party, Isidoro Acevedo began a new newspaper called La Aurora Roja. He also traveled to Russia. He went there to represent Spain's Communist Party at important meetings.

After his trip, he gave many talks across Spain. His experiences in Russia led him to write a book. It was called Impresiones de un viaje a Rusia, which means Impressions of a Trip to Russia. This book was published in 1923. He also wrote a storybook in 1930 called Los topos.

Later Life and Exile

When Miguel Primo de Rivera became a powerful leader in Spain, Isidoro Acevedo was put in jail for a few months. After that, he returned to Madrid.

After the Spanish Civil War, he had to leave Spain. He went to live in the Soviet Union. There, he became the leader of the Spanish part of the International Red Aid. This was a group that helped people in need. He stayed in this role until he passed away in 1952.
