The Israel Defense Forces History Museum, also known by its Hebrew name Batei HaOsef, is a museum that tells the story of Israel's military history. It shows how the country's defense forces have changed over the years.

The museum's collection covers a long period of history. It starts with the secret groups that were active during the British Mandate for Palestine. This was the time before Israel became an independent country, when Great Britain governed the area. The collection continues all the way to the modern Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which is Israel's army today.

The Museum's Location

For many years, the museum was located in the southern part of Tel Aviv, right next to the old Jaffa Railway Station.

However, on January 1, 2019, the museum closed its doors in Tel Aviv. It began the process of moving to a new location in Latrun. The old museum grounds were officially cleared by the Ministry of Defense in August 2019. The plan was for the new museum in Latrun to open in 2021.
