His School Days and Learning
Ivory Lee Toldson was a very bright student. He finished McCall Senior High School when he was just sixteen. He was the best student in his class, known as the valedictorian.
He then went to Coahoma Junior College. After that, he studied at Southern University in Baton Rouge. He earned a Bachelor's degree there in 1966.
He loved learning and kept going to school. He got a Master's degree from Butler University in 1968. Later, he earned a Doctorate degree from Ball State University in 1971. This made him a highly educated psychologist. He also did special training at The Ohio State University in 1982.
His Work as a Teacher and Psychologist
Before becoming a university professor, Ivory Lee Toldson taught middle school in Indianapolis, Indiana. He started teaching at Temple University in 1971. There, he was an assistant professor of counseling psychology.
In 1975, he moved to Southern University. He became an associate professor there. He worked in the Behavioral Studies Department. From 1975 to 1988, he was the head of that department. He became a full professor in 1988.
Later, from 2000 to 2005, he was the Dean of the College of Education. This meant he was in charge of the whole education college.
Helping People with Psychology
In 1982, Ivory Lee Toldson became a licensed psychologist. This allowed him to help people with their thoughts and feelings. He opened his own psychology practice. It was called the Center for Psychological Health Care (CPHC).
His practice grew a lot over time. It started small but became a large center. It offered many services to help people.
