Jacksonburg Creek is found along the eastern side of Kittatinny Mountain. This mountain is part of the Appalachian Mountains. The creek is an important part of the local natural environment.
Where Jacksonburg Creek Begins and Ends
Jacksonburg Creek starts near the border between Warren County and Sussex County. This area is in Hardwick Township, New Jersey. The creek then flows south. It joins the Paulins Kill river about one mile south of the town of Blairstown.
Jacksonburg Creek and the Appalachian Trail
The famous Appalachian Trail is a very long hiking path. It passes through the area where Jacksonburg Creek flows. Hikers on the Appalachian Trail actually cross over Jacksonburg Creek. This happens as the trail goes along the top of Kittatinny Mountain.
A Famous Filming Location
A well-known movie from 1980, called Friday the 13th, was filmed nearby. It was shot at a place called Camp NoBeBosCo. This camp is located north of Blairstown in Hardwick Township. A pond at the camp, named Sand Pond, was used in the movie. This very pond is actually where Jacksonburg Creek begins its journey.
