Jacqueline Beaujeu-Garnier (born May 1, 1917 – died April 28, 1995) was a famous French geographer. A geographer is a scientist who studies the Earth's surface, including its landforms, climates, and how people live on it.
She was the president of the Société de Géographie (which means Geographical Society) from 1983 to 1995. This is a very old and respected group in France that studies geography. She also led a science magazine called L'Information géographique. In 1963, she helped start another geography magazine called Hommes et Terres du Nord with Philippe Pinchemel.
Her Life and Work
From 1960 to 1986, Jacqueline Beaujeu-Garnier was a professor at the Sorbonne University in Paris, France. She taught many students about geography there. Her work helped us understand more about how cities grow and change, and how people interact with their environment.
