James Andrew "Jimmy" Elmer is a former field hockey player from Australia. He was born on May 8, 1971, in Melbourne, Victoria. Jimmy was a forward, which means he played in an attacking position.
He was a key member of the Australian national field hockey team, often called The Kookaburras. He helped his team win a bronze medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.

Jimmy played in every Champions Trophy competition since 1991. This is a major international field hockey tournament. He also won a gold medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.

Retirement from International Play

Life After Professional Hockey
Even after retiring from the national team, James Elmer continued to play hockey. In 2012, he was the captain for the Doncaster team in the Victorian Masters League A grade division.
His team played in the 2012 grand final against the Hawthorn Hockey Club. It was a very close game! Doncaster lost 5–4 after extra time and a penalty shootout. James took one of the penalties, but the Hawthorn goalkeeper saved it.
