James Pennington, also known by his stage name Suburban Knight, is a talented DJ and music producer. He is part of Underground Resistance (UR), an independent record label based in Detroit, United States. This group is famous for its unique electronic music.
Music created by Pennington and other UR members was even featured in the video game Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition. This game is set on the streets of Detroit, making it a cool way to hear their sounds.

The Start of Detroit Techno
James Pennington helped create the sound of Detroit techno music. He started making music in the mid-1980s. His early songs, like "The Art of Stalking" and "The Groove," were known for their moody and deep electronic sounds. He was one of the first artists to shape this exciting new music style.
Working with Underground Resistance
In the early 1990s, Detroit's techno scene grew even bigger. Pennington became an important mentor for Mike Banks and the rest of the Underground Resistance crew. A mentor is someone who guides and teaches others.
With Underground Resistance, James Pennington released popular singles such as "Nocturbulous Behavior" and "Dark Energy." He also contributed to a music collection called Depth Charge, Vol. 3, released by the Submerge label. In 1998, he produced tracks for Underground Resistance's full album, Interstellar Fugitive.
My Sol Dark Direction
James Pennington's first album as a solo artist was called My Sol Dark Direction. This album received great reviews from music critics. It included some of his classic songs as well as new music that had never been released before. His work continues to influence electronic music today.
