Jamie Moses is a Canadian politician from Manitoba. He is currently a special government minister, holding the title of Minister of Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation. He has been in this role since November 13, 2024. Before that, he was the Minister of Economic Development, Investment, Trade and Natural Resources starting October 18, 2023.
Since 2019, Jamie Moses has been a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba. He represents the area known as St. Vital. He is a member of the Manitoba New Democratic Party, often called the Manitoba NDP.

About Jamie Moses
Jamie Moses was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He went to River East Collegiate for high school. Later, he studied at the University of Manitoba. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Agribusiness. This field combines business with farming and food production.
Sports and Early Career
Jamie Moses was a talented athlete when he was younger. He was even named the top male athlete in Manitoba for his age group. He holds a record for the most receiving yards in a single game in the Winnipeg High School Football League. He also played football for the University of Manitoba Bisons team.
Before he became a politician, Jamie Moses worked in different jobs. He worked at Investors Group, a technology company called Rapid RTC, and the Canadian Wheat Board. The Canadian Wheat Board used to help sell wheat for farmers.
Becoming a Member of the Legislative Assembly
In the 2019 Manitoba general election, Jamie Moses was elected to represent the St. Vital area. This was a big moment for Manitoba. Jamie Moses, along with Uzoma Asagwara and Audrey Gordon, became the first three Black Canadian Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in Manitoba's history.
By 2021, he was the main spokesperson for the opposition party on topics like economic development and training. He won his seat in 2019 by defeating Colleen Mayer. She was a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba. Jamie Moses had also run for the NDP in the 2016 election. In that election, he came in second place to Colleen Mayer.
Emancipation Day Act
In October 2021, Jamie Moses introduced a special bill. A bill is a proposed law. His bill, called Bill 232, asked for August 1st to be recognized as Emancipation Day in Manitoba every year. This day remembers when the Slavery Abolition Act became law in the British Empire in 1834. This act ended slavery in many parts of the British Empire. The legislature, which is where laws are made, passed his bill. It became known as the Emancipation Day Act.
