Barbara Jane Tanner, known as Jane Tanner, is a famous Australian artist. She was born on November 29, 1946, in Melbourne, Australia. Jane Tanner is best known for illustrating children's books.

She studied painting and printmaking at the National Gallery School in Melbourne. For many years, she worked as a traditional artist. In 1989, she won a big award for her work. This was the Children's Book of the Year Award: Picture Book from the Children's Book Council of Australia. She won it for illustrating Allan Baillie's book, Drac and the Gremlin.
