Symbols of Jardín América
The Town's Coat of Arms
The official Coat of Arms for Jardín América was created in the 1980s by Antonio Faccendini. It has a ribbon at the top with the colors of the Argentinian flag and the town's founding date.
The main part of the coat of arms shows three sections:
- The first section represents the town's economy. It shows Yerba mate and pineapple plants, along with a gear. These symbols stand for industry and hard work.
- The middle section shows nature. It features the beautiful "Salto Tabay" waterfall and a rising sun. The sun represents a bright future, much like on the national and provincial coats of arms.
- The third section symbolizes the town's culture. It has hands holding a Bible, which shows the beliefs of the first settlers. There is also an Argentinian flag and a Timbó tree. The community of Jardín América grew up around this type of tree.
The Town's Flag
The flag of Jardín América became official in 1999. Its colors have special meanings:
- Green represents the lush jungle of Misiones.
- Red stands for the rich red soil found in Misiones.
- The colors of the Argentinian flag are also part of the design, showing its connection to the country.
The Official Song
Jardín América also has an official song! Antonio Faccendini wrote the words, and Mario Mereles composed the music. The song uses the rhythm of a "Galopa misionera," which is a traditional style of music from the Misiones region. The original version of the song was sung by Giselle Mereles. You can listen to it here.
