Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls' Football Journey
Starting His AFL Adventure
Jarrad began his journey in Australian rules football in Western Australia. He was a talented player who got picked by the Richmond Football Club in the 2005 AFL draft. This was a big moment for him! He made his very first AFL appearance in 2006. This special game was called "Dreamtime at the 'G'," which is a yearly event celebrating Indigenous culture.
Time with the Richmond Tigers
Jarrad played for the Richmond Football Club, also known as the "Tigers," for four years. During his time there, from 2006 to 2009, he played in 13 official AFL games. He worked hard and showed his skills on the field. At the end of the 2009 season, Richmond decided to make some changes to their team. This meant Jarrad was no longer on their main list of players.
Moving to the West Coast Eagles
Even though he left Richmond, Jarrad's football career wasn't over. The West Coast Eagles, another big AFL team, picked him up. They added him to their "rookie list" for the 2010 and 2011 seasons. Being on the rookie list means a player is still training with the team and hoping to get a chance to play in the main games. While with the Eagles, Jarrad continued to train and develop his skills. However, he did not get to play in any official AFL games for them.
After His AFL Career
After his time with the West Coast Eagles, Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls finished his professional AFL career. He is remembered as a player who competed at the highest level of Australian rules football.
