Burnstick has been recognized for their amazing music! Their album Dream Big, Little One / Fais de beaux rêves, petit ange (released in 2015) was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award. This was for "Aboriginal Songwriter of the Year" in 2016.
They also received another nomination for their album Kîyânaw (released in 2019). This time, it was for "Indigenous Songwriter of the Year" at the 16th Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2020. These awards celebrate the best folk music in Canada.

Jason Burnstick is a member of the Plains Cree nation. Nadia Gaudet has Franco-Manitoban and Métis heritage. This means their families have different backgrounds.
