Jason Loutitt (born April 26, 1974 – died June 7, 2021) was a talented Canadian athlete. He was a long-distance runner and cyclist from Squamish, British Columbia. Jason was especially known for running marathons and long races in the mountains. In 2001, he received a special award called the Tom Longboat Award for his amazing sports achievements.

Jason Loutitt was a respected member of his community. He worked with Aboriginal programs in Vancouver. Jason also became a great role model and speaker for Indigenous people. He often shared inspiring messages with others.
Jason's Amazing Bike Ride
In 2020, Jason went on an incredible bike trip. On June 19, he started riding from Whistler, British Columbia. His goal was to reach Winnipeg, Manitoba. He wanted to raise money for a program called Under One Roof. This program helps people in Squamish.
After reaching Winnipeg, Jason decided to keep going! He cycled all the way across Canada to Halifax. He arrived in Halifax on July 11. That was in just over 21 days! He then rode all the way back to Whistler. He completed the full cross-Canada return trip in only 44 days. He returned home on August 30, 2020.
Jason Loutitt's Sports Career
Jason Loutitt was a very successful athlete. He started his first race in 1999. This was a relay race in the Columbia Icefields. He ran as part of a team for the 2PPCLI Infantry.
Tom Longboat Award Winner
In 2001, Jason was honored with the Tom Longboat Award. This special award started in 1951. It celebrates Indigenous athletes in Canada. The award recognizes their outstanding contributions to sports. Jason received this award for his success in ultra-distance running.
Major Running Achievements
Jason won several big races during his career. In May 2011, he won the Calgary Marathon. He also won the HURT 100-mile endurance race in Hawaii. This race is very long and challenging. In 2011, he won the Bear Mountain 10k race. This race is known as "Canada's Hardest 10K." Jason also finished second in other important races. He was runner-up in the Vancouver Marathon in 2010. He also placed second in the World Ultra Trail Running Championships in Ireland in July 2011.
