Jatz is a popular Australian cracker. It was first made by Arnott's Biscuits in 1952. These crackers are round, about 5 centimeters wide. They have a wavy edge and are lightly salted on one side.
People often eat Jatz with cheese, dips, or even Vegemite. They are also tasty on their own! You can find Jatz in different kinds, like the original, cracked pepper, or fat-free. There's also a similar cracker called Clix.
Meet Savoy: Jatz's Cracker Cousin
Savoy is another cracker that looks very much like Jatz. It was first made in Melbourne by Brockhoff Biscuits in 1938. For a while, Jatz and Savoy were competitors.
How Jatz and Savoy Joined Forces
In 1963, Brockhoff Biscuits and Arnott's Biscuits joined together. Even though the companies merged, they decided to keep both Jatz and Savoy crackers on store shelves. This way, people could still choose their favorite.
Today, Jatz and Savoy are still very similar. The main differences are their brand names and a few ingredients. Jatz uses milk powder and malt, while Savoy uses golden syrup.
