Early Life and Education

Jazmine Hughes was born on October 25, 1991, in New Haven, Connecticut. She grew up with four sisters. She was taught at home until she reached the fifth grade.

She later attended Connecticut College. There, she studied government. She was also the editor-in-chief of the school newspaper. She graduated in 2012 when she was 20 years old. After college, she went to the Columbia Publishing Course. This course helps people learn about working in publishing.

Her Career as a Writer and Editor

Jazmine Hughes started her career checking facts at New York Magazine. In 2015, she became an associate editor at The New York Times Magazine. She worked there until November 2023. At the Times Magazine, she helped edit popular sections like "Letter of Recommendation" and the "Talk" column.
