Becoming a Boxing Star
Jean-Claude Bouttier started his professional boxing career in 1965. He boxed for nine years, until 1974. During this time, he fought a total of 72 matches. He won an impressive 64 of those fights! Forty-three of his wins were by knockout, which means he knocked his opponents out. This shows how strong his punches were.
Fighting for Championships
In June 1971, Jean-Claude Bouttier achieved a big goal. He won the European Boxing Union (EBU) middleweight title. This made him the best middleweight boxer in Europe.
He also had two very important fights in 1972 and 1973. He challenged Carlos Monzon for the world titles from the WBC and WBA. These were some of the biggest fights of his career. Even though he didn't win these world titles, he showed great courage and skill.
Jean-Claude Bouttier lost his EBU European title in May 1974. He lost to a boxer named Kevin Finnegan. After this fight, he decided to retire from boxing.
