Jean II de Brosse facts for kids
Jean II de Brosse, also known as Jehan II de Brosse (born in 1432, died on August 6, 1482), was an important person in French history. He was the older son of Jean I de Brosse, who was a famous Marshal of France. A Marshal was a high-ranking military leader.
In 1449, Jean II de Brosse became a chamberlain for the King of France. A chamberlain was a trusted helper and advisor to the king.
Jean II de Brosse married Nicole, Countess of Penthièvre. She was the daughter of Charles, Seigneur d'Avaugour, and Isabeau de Vivonne. Through Nicole, Jean II de Brosse gained the County of Penthièvre in the Duchy of Brittany in 1479. This happened because Nicole inherited it.
Jean II de Brosse is also remembered for rebuilding the donjon (a strong tower) in Fouras. He worked on this project between 1480 and 1490.

- Helena of Brosse: She married Boniface III, Marquess of Montferrat, who was William VIII's brother.
