Jean Joubert (born February 27, 1928 – died November 28, 2015) was a famous French writer. He wrote many different kinds of books, including novels, short stories, and poems.
He won important awards for his writing. In 1978, he received the Prix Mallarmé for his book Poems: 1955–1975. He also won the Prix Renaudot in 1975 for his novel L'Homme de sable (The Sandman). These awards show how much his work was appreciated.

Jean Joubert was born in a town called Châlette-sur-Loing in France. He grew up there before becoming a writer.
Later in his life, he taught American literature at a university in France called Université Paul Valéry. He helped students learn about books and stories from America. Jean Joubert passed away in 2015 when he was 87 years old.
