Jeannette Eyerly facts for kids
Jeannette Eyerly (born June 7, 1908 – died August 18, 2008) was a talented writer who created stories for young people, especially girls. She also wrote articles for newspapers. Jeannette Eyerly was special because she was one of the first writers to talk about tricky or "controversial" topics in her books for young readers.
She wrote eighteen novels, starting with More Than a Summer Love in 1962. Before that, she had already published many short stories. One of her books, He's My Baby, Now (from 1977), was even turned into a TV movie for ABC! She also wrote two books of poems.
Jeannette Eyerly was born Jeannette Hyde in Topeka, Kansas. Her parents were Robert Cornelius Hyde and Mabel Jeannette Young. She married Frank Eyerly in 1932. Jeannette studied English at the University of Iowa and earned her bachelor's degree in 1930. All of her important writings and papers are kept safe at the University of Iowa.
