Jeannie Hakongak Ehaloak is an Inuit politician from Canada. She is known for her work in Nunavut, a large territory in northern Canada. She served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut for the area of Cambridge Bay from 2017 to 2021. Before that, she was the mayor of Cambridge Bay.

Early Life and Education
When she was four years old, Jeannie Ehaloak attended a residential school in Inuvik. These schools were a big part of Canadian history for Indigenous children.
Political Career and Public Service
Jeannie Ehaloak has a long history of serving her community. Before becoming mayor, she was a councillor for the hamlet of Cambridge Bay. A hamlet is a small community, and a councillor helps make decisions for it.
She also worked for Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated. This organization helps protect the rights and interests of the Inuit people in Nunavut.
Mayor of Cambridge Bay
In 2011, Jeannie Ehaloak ran for mayor of Cambridge Bay and won. As mayor, she was in charge of leading the town council and making important decisions for the community. She served as mayor until 2017.
Member of the Legislative Assembly
In the 2017 Nunavut general election, Jeannie Ehaloak ran to represent the Cambridge Bay area in the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut. She won the election, which meant she became a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).
After winning, she stepped down from her role as mayor. As an MLA, she was given several important jobs, called "portfolios." She became the Minister of Justice, which means she was in charge of laws and legal matters. She was also the Minister responsible for Qulliq Energy Corporation, which provides electricity in Nunavut. Additionally, she was the Minister responsible for the Status of Women, working to improve the lives of women.
In November 2020, there was a change in the government's leadership, called a "cabinet shuffle." Jeannie Ehaloak continued to be the Minister for Qulliq Energy Corporation. She also took on a new role as the Minister of Community and Government Services. This job involves helping local communities and government services run smoothly.
In the 2021 Nunavut general election, Jeannie Ehaloak ran for re-election but was not successful. Pamela Gross won the seat for Cambridge Bay.
Current Role
In 2022, Jeannie Ehaloak became the director for communications at Polar Knowledge Canada. This organization helps to develop and share knowledge about the Arctic and Antarctic regions.
