Jeannie Hakongak Ehaloak is an Inuk politician from Canada. She was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut, which is like the government for the Nunavut territory. She was elected in the 2017 general election.
Jeannie Ehaloak represented the area of Cambridge Bay from 2017 to 2021. Before she joined the Legislative Assembly, she was the mayor of Cambridge Bay.

Early Life and Education
When Jeannie Ehaloak was four years old, she was sent to a residential school in Inuvik. These schools were part of a system that separated Indigenous children from their families and cultures.
Political Career
Before becoming a member of the Legislative Assembly, Jeannie Ehaloak was involved in local government. She served as a councillor for the hamlet of Cambridge Bay. She also worked for Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated, an organization that protects the rights of Inuit people in Nunavut.
Becoming Mayor
In 2011, Jeannie Ehaloak decided to run for mayor of Cambridge Bay. She won the election and served as mayor until 2017.
Serving in the Legislative Assembly
In 2017, Jeannie Ehaloak ran for a seat in the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut. She won the election for the Cambridge Bay area. After her victory, she stepped down from her role as mayor.
She was given important jobs, called "portfolios," in the government. She became the Minister of Justice, which means she was in charge of legal matters. She was also the Minister responsible for Qulliq Energy Corporation, which provides electricity. Additionally, she was the Minister responsible for the Status of Women.
In November 2020, there was a change in the cabinet, which is like the team of ministers. Jeannie Ehaloak continued to be the Minister for Qulliq Energy Corporation. She also took on a new role as the Minister of Community and Government Services.
After the Legislative Assembly
Jeannie Ehaloak ran for re-election in the 2021 Nunavut general election but was not successful. Pamela Gross won the seat for Cambridge Bay instead.
In 2022, Jeannie Ehaloak became the director for communications at Polar Knowledge Canada. This organization helps with research and understanding of the Arctic and Antarctic regions.
