Jednota (also known as Jednota Flats) is a small community in Pennsylvania, United States. It is not a city or town with its own government. Instead, it is an unincorporated community within Lower Swatara Township, in Dauphin County. You can find it located very close to the Harrisburg International Airport.
This community is also part of a larger region called the Harrisburg–Carlisle Metropolitan Statistical Area. This means it is connected to the bigger cities of Harrisburg and Carlisle.
A Look at Jednota's History
Jednota was once home to an important place called the Jednota Home and Shrine. This site belonged to a group known as the First Catholic Slovak Union (FCSU). This organization operated the home and shrine from 1911 until 1976. Today, a special monument stands there to remember where this historical site once was.
Where is Jednota Located?
Jednota is located in a specific area with clear boundaries. To the north, you'll find the main Pennsylvania Turnpike, which is also known as Interstate 76. To the south, the community is bordered by Pennsylvania Route 230. White House Lane is to the west, and the Airport Connector is to the east. The main road that runs through Jednota is Rosedale Avenue.
Jednota Flats
The lower part of Jednota, which is along PA Route 230, is often called the Jednota Flats. This area has a few local businesses and several mobile home parks. Some of the neighborhoods you can find within Jednota Flats include Lisa Lake and Caravan Court.
