She often hides fun characters and jokes in her pictures for kids to discover.

About Jenny Hale

Jenny Hale grew up as the fifth of seven children. All her siblings loved to draw. When she was just 8 years old, her drawings appeared in the children's section of The Sun-Herald newspaper. She also won many different art contests. These included a sand modelling competition, billboard painting, and even an egg painting contest in 1973. After studying Graphic Design, she became a freelance artist and writer.

Jenny's Creative Works

Jenny Hale uses many different art tools. She works with pastels, watercolours, and coloured pencils. She also uses computer programs like Photoshop. Her illustrations are often very bright and colourful.

Jenny loved reading fantasy stories from a young age. She started writing her own stories when she was 10. For a while, she mostly wrote for advertising. Then, she wrote her fifth picture book. This was a maze book about a princess going on a special journey. After that, she wrote Little Frog in 2007. In 2009, Jenny returned to her love for fantasy. She wrote Jatta, a story with a deeper, more serious tone. This book explores the challenges of a princess who transforms. Reading Time magazine said it has a "complex plot that will keep the reader interested until the very end."
