Jeremy Allen White (born February 17, 1991) is an American actor. He grew up in New York City and started his acting career with smaller parts. He became famous for playing Phillip "Lip" Gallagher in the comedy-drama TV series Shameless from 2011 to 2021.

White received even more praise for his role as chef Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto in the TV show The Bear, which started in 2022. For this role, he has won several important awards, including three Golden Globe Awards and two Primetime Emmy Awards. In 2023, White also played the wrestler Kerry Von Erich in the movie The Iron Claw. Since 2024, he has been a global ambassador for the fashion brand Calvin Klein.

Early Life and Dance Dreams

Jeremy Allen White was born in Brooklyn, a part of New York City, on February 17, 1991. He grew up in the Carroll Gardens neighborhood of Brooklyn. His mother is from North Carolina.

When he was in elementary school, Jeremy was a dancer. He learned and performed different styles like ballet, jazz, and tap dance. When he was 13, he joined a new middle school dance program. It was then that he decided he wanted to try acting instead. He later went to the Professional Performing Arts School in Manhattan to study acting.
