Jermikko's Early Life and Fashion Journey
Jermikko Shoshanna Johnson was born in Chicago in 1946. From a young age, she loved making clothes. As a teenager, she started changing and redesigning outfits for her family. This was how she first learned about fashion design.
In 1972, Jermikko finished her studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. After graduating, she worked with a famous designer named Stanley Korshak in Chicago. This experience helped her learn even more about the fashion world.
Starting Her Own Business
In 1979, Jermikko decided to start her very own fashion business. She became a successful entrepreneur. Her designs have been seen in many exciting places.
For example, she created pieces for Spike Lee's 2015 movie Chi-Raq. She also designed clothes for the popular TV show Empire. In 2016, one of her hoodie designs was even featured in Beyonce's music video "Pray You Catch Me".
Today, Jermikko is the main designer and CEO of her own fashion brands. These brands are called Jermikko and JJ Hobeau. She continues to lead and create amazing fashion.
