Jesús Delgado Valhondo (born February 19, 1909 – died July 23, 1993) was an important Spanish poet. He wrote many poems and was also involved in creating literary magazines. He received several awards for his writing and his work to help his community.

Early Life and Education
Jesús Delgado Valhondo was born in Mérida, Spain, on February 19, 1909. When he was young, his family moved to Cáceres after his father passed away. At the age of six, he had an illness that caused him to become lame.
He studied to become a teacher. In 1934, he began his career in education.
Challenges and Contributions
After the Spanish Civil War, Jesús faced difficulties because of his political views. He was connected to a group called Alianza Republicana and worked as a leader for a workers' union, the Unión General de Trabajadores. Because of this, he faced penalties in his career.
Despite these challenges, he continued to contribute to literature. He helped start a Spanish literary magazine called Alcántara in 1945. He also co-founded the Association of Extremaduran Writers. Today, he is honored as the honorary president of this association.
Literary Recognition
Jesús Delgado Valhondo's poetry was highly praised by other famous writers. Even Nobel Prize winner Juan Ramón Jiménez admired his work. Juan Ramón Jiménez once said:

Awards and Public Service
Jesús Delgado Valhondo received several important awards for his writing. In 1978, he won the "Hispanidad" prize for poetry.
Beyond his writing, he also served his community. In 1979, he became the deputy mayor of Badajoz. He held this position with the Unión de Centro Democrático, a political group.
In 1988, he was given the Medal of Extremadura. This award recognized his kindness, his professional achievements, and his literary talents.
Legacy
Jesús Delgado Valhondo passed away on July 23, 1993. After his death, many of his poems were collected and published in new books.
To keep his work and memory alive, the Delgado Valhondo Foundation was created. This foundation helps promote his writings. Also, the Public State Library in Mérida is named after him, honoring his contributions to literature.
