Jess Lee is a Canadian Métis country music singer and songwriter. He is known for his unique voice and songs.

Jess Lee's Music Journey

Jess Lee began his music career in 1980. He became the lead singer for the Midnite Rodeo Band. He worked with another artist named Rocky Swanson. Together, they won several awards. These included the BCCMA Male Vocalist and Album of the Year honors.

In 1990, Jess released his first solo album. It was called Honky Tonk Love Affair. This album had five songs that became hits in Canada. One of them, "Crowhill Road," even reached number one! The song "Honky Tonk Love Affair" was also featured in a movie. It was voted "song of the year" by the BCCMA. Jess also won the Country Male Vocalist of the Year Award for it. After this, he spent several years writing songs in Nashville. Nashville is a famous city for country music.

In the mid-1990s, Jess Lee went back to his Indigenous roots in music. He signed with 12th Street Records. He worked with songwriter Bonnie James. They created an album called Sacred Ground. This album shared stories and experiences of Indigenous and Métis people in North America. It was even nominated for a Juno Award. Juno Awards are very important music awards in Canada.

In 2004, Jess teamed up with Mighty Peace Records. This is a Canadian independent music label. He released a new CD of original roots music. It was titled Born in the North. A music critic named Larry Delaney said it was one of his top ten albums of 2004. Jess Lee has also appeared on many award shows and TV shows. These include Native Voices and The Tommy Hunter Show.

In 2011, Jess Lee was honored. He was inducted into the BCCMA Hall of Fame. This means he was recognized for his great contributions to country music. In 2013, his album Still Standing on Sacred Ground was re-released. It was combined with his Sacred Ground album. The new double CD was named I Am All of This. This album has some older songs that were improved. It also has some brand new songs.
