Jessie O. Thomas facts for kids
Jessie O. Thomas (born December 21, 1885 – died February 18, 1972) was an important African-American educator from Atlanta. He helped start the Atlanta University School of Social Work in 1920. He was also the very first director of the Southern Field Division for the National Urban League, an organization that works for civil rights and social justice.
Thomas was a speaker at the opening of Joyland Park in 1921. This was Atlanta's first amusement park specifically for Black people.
