Jhon Eduard Murillo Romaña, born on November 21, 1995, is a professional footballer from Venezuela. He plays as a winger, which means he plays on the sides of the field. Jhon is currently playing for Liga MX club Atlas on loan from Atlético San Luis. He also proudly represents his home country as part of the Venezuela national team.

Jhon Murillo's Club Career Journey

Jhon Murillo was born in El Nula, Venezuela. He started his football journey at youth clubs like Fundación Atlético San Camilo FC and Unión Atlético Alto Apure. In 2012, he began playing in the Venezuelan Tercera División, which is a professional football league in Venezuela.

Early Professional Years in Venezuela

Jhon made his first appearance in the Venezuelan Primera División, the top league in Venezuela, on October 22, 2012. This was a match against Llaneros de Guanare. He scored his very first goal in the league on August 19, 2013, playing against Deportivo Petare.

On May 20, 2015, Zamora FC, his club at the time, announced that Jhon would be moving to Benfica. Benfica is a famous football club in Portugal. He signed a five-year contract with them.

Playing in Portugal and Turkey

After joining Benfica, Jhon was loaned out to other clubs to gain more experience.

  • On July 16, 2015, he joined C.D. Tondela in Portugal's top league, Primeira Liga, for a one-year loan.
  • He continued his loan at Tondela for another season, staying there until 2017.
  • Later, he was loaned to Kasımpaşa, a club in Turkey, for one season.

In January 2024, Jhon Murillo joined Atlas in Mexico. He is currently playing for them on loan from Atlético San Luis.

In 2014, Jhon played for the Venezuela under-21 team. He helped them finish second and win a silver medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Mexico. He scored two important goals in that tournament, including one in the semi-final against Honduras.

In 2015, Jhon represented the Venezuela under-20 team in the 2015 South American Youth Football Championship.

Senior National Team Debut

Jhon Murillo made his first appearance for the senior Venezuela national team on February 11, 2015. This was in a friendly match against Honduras. He scored the winning goal in that game, helping Venezuela win 2-1.

He was considered for the Copa América Centenario in 2016, being on the first list of 40 players. However, he was not part of the final team for that tournament.
