Jill E. Britton (born November 6, 1944 – died February 29, 2016) was a Canadian expert in math education. She was well-known for writing helpful books about mathematics.

Jill Britton was born on November 6, 1944. She spent many years teaching math at colleges. First, she taught at Dawson College in Westmount, Quebec. Later, in the late 1980s, she moved to Camosun College in Victoria, British Columbia.

Her Teaching Journey

At Camosun College, Jill Britton mainly taught math to young women. These students were learning to become elementary school teachers. Jill had a special goal in her teaching. She wanted to change how her students felt about math. Many students felt scared of math, but Jill wanted them to feel excited and interested instead. She helped many students overcome their fear and enjoy learning math.

Jill Britton retired from teaching in 2015. She passed away on February 29, 2016.

Awards and Recognition

Jill Britton was recognized for her excellent teaching. In 2008–2009, she won the Teaching Excellence Award. This award came from the Association of Canadian Community Colleges. It showed how much her hard work and dedication to teaching were valued.
