Jim Leftwich facts for kids
James Randolph Leftwich (born in 1944 – died on January 27, 2020) was an important leader for Indigenous Australians within the Anglican Church of Australia. He served as an assistant bishop in the Diocese of North Queensland.
Early Life and Education
James Randolph Leftwich studied at Nungalinya College and Wontulp-bi-Buya College. These colleges help train people for church leadership. After his studies, he became a deacon in 1987 and then a priest in 1988.
Church Leadership
On September 16, 2001, James Leftwich became a bishop. He worked as a bishop helping Indigenous people in northern Queensland and across all of Australia. He continued this important work until he retired on December 31, 2010.
Later Life
James Leftwich passed away in 2020.
