Jim West's Early Life
Jim West was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on December 12, 1955. When he was younger, he started his career helping to design homes for his family's business, Deerfield Construction. But his true passion was sculpting! He learned from expert artists in New York and on the West Coast, where he worked as an apprentice.
Jim West's Art Career
Jim West became a full-time sculptor in January 2020. He doesn't just create art; he also teaches young people about art and helps protect important monuments and artworks.
