Jimmie Fails (born November 10, 1994) is an American actor. He is known for his first big movie role in The Last Black Man in San Francisco (2019). This film was special because it was partly based on his own life story.

Early Life and Friendship

Jimmie Fails was born and grew up in San Francisco, California. When he was very young, he lived in a beautiful Victorian house. This house was in the Fillmore district, a neighborhood where many Black middle-class families lived. His grandfather, who was a preacher, had bought the house.

After his grandfather passed away, Jimmie's family could not afford to keep the house. He then spent the rest of his childhood living in foster care and public housing. Only Jimmie and his father stayed in San Francisco, while other family members moved away. He went to Archbishop Riordan High School and later attended college for a year.

How Jimmie Met Joe Talbot

As Jimmie was growing up, he met Joe Talbot at a local park. The park was right between their neighborhoods. They quickly became very good friends. They started making short movies together when they were still in high school.

Their first short film, Last Stop Livermore, was made with Joe's brother, Nat. It even became a finalist in the Golden Gate Awards. Their next official short film, American Paradise, was shown at the famous 2017 Sundance Film Festival.
