Jittery Joe's is a popular coffee shop company. It started in Athens, Georgia, in 1994. The very first Jittery Joe's opened its doors in downtown Athens.
Today, you can find nine Jittery Joe's locations in Athens. There is also one shop in Watkinsville, one in Atlanta, one in Bethlehem, and one in St. Simons, all in Georgia.

About Jittery Joe's Coffee
How the Name Jittery Joe's Started
The name "Jittery Joe's" came from a TV show. It was inspired by an episode of The Simpsons. In that episode, a character named Marge visited a diner called "Jittery Joe's."
The people who started the coffee company liked the name. They found out that no one else had officially claimed it. So, they decided to use "Jittery Joe's" for their new coffee brand.
Jittery Joe's in New York City
Jittery Joe's tried to open a shop in New York City in August 2009. This new store was right next to a college. It quickly became a favorite spot in Midtown Manhattan.
The famous New York Times newspaper even wrote good things about it. However, this New York City location closed in January 2013.
Working with Artists and Local Businesses
Jittery Joe's often works with artists and other local businesses. For example, they helped with the recording of an album. This album was called Live at Jittery Joe's by Jeff Mangum.
They also created special coffee blends for music artists. These included blends for Kishi Bashi and Widespread Panic. Jittery Joe's has also teamed up with other Athens businesses. They worked with Terrapin Beer Company, BikeAthens, and Kindercore Vinyl. Together, they made unique coffee mixes.
Java Joy Program
In December 2016, Jittery Joe's started a special program. They partnered with a local group called Extra Special People. This program is named Java Joy.
Java Joy helps people with disabilities find work. In 2018, Jittery Joe's began teaching participants how to roast coffee. They also learned how to serve it. The program then got a mobile coffee cart. Employees use this cart to serve coffee. They also connect with people at local events and in communities.
Jittery Joe's Cycling Team
Jittery Joe's also supports a professional cycling team. This team is called a UCI Continental team. It includes both professional and amateur bike riders.
The team races in many road bicycle racing events. These races are mainly in the United States. They also competed in other countries like Australia and South Africa. Jittery Joe's was the main sponsor for this team.
In 2008, the team faced a challenge. They could not find another big sponsor. Because of this, the team changed from professional to amateur status.
