Joaquina Téllez-Girón, Marchioness of Santa Cruz facts for kids
Joaquina Téllez-Girón y Pimentel (born September 21, 1784 – died November 17, 1851) was a Spanish noblewoman. She was the 2nd Countess of Osilo and later became the Marchioness of Santa Cruz through her marriage.
Joaquina was the daughter of two important Spanish nobles: Pedro Téllez-Girón, 9th Duke of Osuna and María Josefa Pimentel, 12th Countess-Duchess of Benavente. Her family was very well-known and influential in Spain.
In 1801, Joaquina married José Gabriel de Silva-Bazán y Waldstein. He later became the Marquess of Santa Cruz, making her the Marchioness.
Joaquina is most famous because of a beautiful painting made of her in 1805. The artist was Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes, a famous Spanish painter and a friend of her family.
