Joevana Charles (born July 1955 – died 17 January 2021) was an important politician from the Seychelles. She was a member of the country's main law-making body, the National Assembly of Seychelles. Joevana Charles was part of the Seychelles People's Progressive Front political party. She was first chosen to be a member of the Assembly in 1993.

Joevana Charles: Early Life and Education
Joevana Charles was born in July 1955. She was the fifth of eight children in her family. Her parents worked in other countries. Because of this, Joevana took on the job of looking after her younger brothers and sisters. She also helped them with their schooling.
Joevana started her career as a teacher. She went to the National Teachers Training College to learn more about teaching. Later, she studied even further abroad at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.
Joevana Charles: A Career in Politics
Joevana Charles began her political journey in 1993. This was when Seychelles started allowing many political parties to exist. She joined a party called the Seychelles People's United Party.
Becoming a Member of Parliament
In 1993, Joevana ran for election in an area called Plaisance. She won this election and became a member of the National Assembly. This means she helped make laws for her country.
She ran for election again in 1998. This time, she was a candidate for the Roche Caiman area. She won again and kept her seat in the Assembly in the elections of 2002, 2007, and 2011. Joevana Charles finished her time as a Member of Parliament in 2016.
Her Work in the National Assembly
While she was in the National Assembly, Joevana Charles worked on several important committees. She was a member of the Standing Order Committee. She also served on the Women’s Parliamentary Committee. This committee focused on issues important to women.
In July 2011, the President of Seychelles, James Michel, chose Joevana Charles to be part of a special group. This group was called the National Committee for Social Renaissance. Its job was to lead important discussions about the country's future.
Joevana Charles passed away at her home on 17 January 2021. She is survived by her two children and her grandchildren.
