John Brown came from a place called Little Ness in Shropshire, England. In 1650, he became a member of the County Committee for Shropshire. This committee helped manage the local area. It was important for keeping good records of their work.

A Member of Parliament

In 1653, John Brown was chosen to be a representative for Wales. He joined a special group called the Barebones Parliament. This Parliament was a temporary government assembly in England. It was named after one of its members, Praise-God Barebone. As a Member of Parliament, John Brown had official places to stay in London.

Family and Legacy

John Brown passed away sometime before June 9, 1654. His son, Thomas Brown, married Mary Gough. Mary was a cousin of Thomas Baker. Thomas Baker was also a Member of Parliament for Shropshire in 1653. Later, in 1675, Thomas Baker left the Sweeney Hall Estate to John Brown's son, Thomas.

Possible Military Connection

It is thought that John Brown might be the same person as a military officer named John Browne. This John Browne was appointed as a Lieutenant in a troop of soldiers called Dragoons in 1650. He later became a Captain in another troop of Dragoons in 1651. Dragoons were soldiers who rode horses but fought on foot.
