John Coates (born November 7, 1927 – died September 16, 2012) was a British film producer. He is most famous for producing the animated film The Snowman. This beloved movie is based on the picture book by Raymond Briggs. The Snowman was one of the first animated shows ever shown on Channel Four in the UK.
