Howard discovered martial arts when he went to a Job Corps program. There, he learned grappling from a freestyle grappler. Even though he didn't have a wrestling background, he became known for his wrestling moves and takedowns in MMA. His nickname, "Doomsday," comes from the famous villain who fought Superman.
