John Lougher (died January 8, 1636) was a Welsh politician. He was a member of the House of Commons, which is like a part of the government, in 1601.

Early Life and Education

John Lougher was the son of Robert Lougher from Tenby, a town in Pembrokeshire, Wales. He went to St Mary Hall, Oxford, a famous university, where he earned his first degree in 1594. After that, he decided to study law. He became a student at the Middle Temple in 1594. The Middle Temple is one of the places in London where lawyers are trained.

Political Career

In 1601, John Lougher was chosen to be a Member of Parliament (MP) for the area of Pembroke. An MP is someone elected to represent their local area in the government. This means he helped make decisions for the country. Later, from 1626 to 1627, he was also appointed as the High Sheriff of Pembrokeshire. A High Sheriff was an important official who helped keep law and order in their county.

Family Life

John Lougher was married two times. His first wife was Frances, who was the widow of a man named Sir Thomas Smith. Later, he married Mary. Mary was the daughter of Sir Edward Fitton from Gawsworth. She was also the widow of William Polwhele. John and Mary had one daughter together.
