Starting in Politics

John Nolan first became a TD in 1923. He was elected during the 1923 Irish general election, which is when people across the country vote for their representatives. He was a member of a political party called Cumann na nGaedheal. This party was very important in the early years of the Irish Free State.

As a TD for Limerick, John Nolan helped make decisions and laws for the country. He served in Dáil Éireann for a few years after his first election. Being a TD means representing the people of your area and bringing their concerns to the national government.
