Jordi Camí (born in Terrassa in 1952) is a well-known scientist and professor from Catalonia, Spain. He is a Professor of Pharmacology at Pompeu Fabra University. He also leads the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) as its General Director. On top of that, he is the vice president of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation.

Early Career and Education
Jordi Camí has spent his academic career at two important universities: the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF). At these universities, he held several leadership roles. He was a Dean and a department director. At the UPF, he helped start new studies in Biology. He also played a key role in creating the Department of Medicine and Life Sciences.
Leading Research Centers
From 1985 to 2005, Jordi Camí was the Director of the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute (IMIM). He also helped create other important research centers. These include the CRG and the CMRB. Most notably, he founded the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) in 2005 and has been its director ever since. The PRBB is a big center where many scientists work together.
Contributions to Science
Jordi Camí was the first director of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation from 2008 to 2020. This foundation works on research related to Alzheimer's disease. He also started a science journal called Quark, which was published from 1995 to 2007. In 2017, he became a full member of the Institute for Catalan Studies (Institut d’Estudis Catalans -IEC). This is a very respected group that studies science and culture.
Awards and Recognition
Jordi Camí has received several awards for his scientific work. In 1990, he earned an honorable mention for the Reina Sofia Research Award. In 2000, he was given the Narcís Monturiol medal by the Government of Catalonia. This medal recognizes people who have made important contributions to science and technology. He has also been part of important health and bioethics committees in Spain.
