A Painter's Journey
José Denis Belgrano showed great artistic promise from a young age. He was very dedicated to his art. His journey as a painter took him to different places.
Studying in Rome
A kind person named Carlos Larios, who was the Marquess of Guadiaro, helped José. He gave José a special scholarship. This scholarship allowed José to study art in Rome, Italy. Rome is famous for its art and history. José lived there for two years, learning and improving his skills.
Back to Málaga
After his time in Rome, José returned to his hometown of Málaga. In 1868, he joined the Malaga Art School. This school is now part of the University of Málaga. There, he became a student of a well-known artist named Bernardo Ferrándiz. José continued to learn and grow as a painter.
Becoming a Professor
José Denis Belgrano went back to Rome for two more years in the mid-1870s. He kept learning and perfecting his art. His hard work paid off. In 1887, he became a professor at the very same Malaga Art School where he had once been a student. He shared his knowledge and passion for painting with new generations of artists.
